At the Scottish Liberal Democrat conference in Inverness, party leader Alex Cole-Hamilton announced that Jamie Greene MSP had joined the party. This brings the Holyrood group up to 5 MSPs and gives Lib Dems Holyrood representation in West Scotland for the first time since 2011.

There are many who voted for Ruth Davidson’s Conservatives who are dismayed to see the party lurching to the extremes. Just like our newest MSP, Jamie Greene, they increasingly see in the Scottish Liberal Democrats a chance to do things differently.

With Jamie on our team, Scottish Liberal Democrats will keep making our voices heard on the issues that matter - getting you fast access to health care, lifting up Scottish education and growing our economy.

The conference brought with it a lot of energy as the party looks forward to 2026's Holyrood elections. There were many amazing motions, from providing support to young carers through a young carers' lead to protecting young people from the harms of vaping to. It is clear that Scottish Liberal Democrats have the policies for change and have a positive vision for Renfrewshire and the wider West of Scotland.
