Jack Clark chosen as General Election Candidate for Paisley & Renfrewshire South

Renfrewshire Liberal Democrats have chosen Jack Clark as their candidate for Paisley & Renfrewshire South in the next General Election.

In his first comments as the candidate, Jack Clark described the country as at a “crucial moment” and said he would fight for a fair deal for people in Renfrewshire.

Jack, who stood for the constituency in 2019, recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Masters in economics, after previously studying politics at the University of the West of Scotland in Paisley. He currently works for Liberal Democrat MP Richard Foord.

Jack Clark, Scottish Liberal Democrat Candidate for Paisley & Renfrewshire South, said:

“I love Renfrewshire – there is such a strong sense of community here, and it’s somewhere I am proud to now call home. However, huge challenges, such as the cost-of-living crisis and the impact of 13 years of Conservative government, means that it’s time for change. 

“I want to fight for a fair deal for people across Renfrewshire. That means real action on the cost of living, real action on climate change and water pollution, and real action to clean up our politics and make our country a better place to live.

“From ensuring affordable housing for young people, to an economy that works for everyone, it’s time to invest in our future and build a fair United Kingdom.

“We have had 13 years of the Conservatives trashing our economy, squeezing budgets, robbing from the poor to feed the rich, as well as 16 years of the SNP focusing on dividing our country to the detriment of our politics and our public services. It’s time for change, and that means backing me as your Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate in Paisley & Renfrewshire South."

Scottish Liberal Democrat Councillor for Paisley Southwest, Anne Hannigan, said:

“I’m delighted that Jack has been selected as our candidate for the General Election. I know that he has the commitment and the drive to work hard for our community. We face a pivotal moment, with an opportunity to finally get the Conservatives out of Government, and Jack has the energy and ideas we need to reshape Renfrewshire for the better.”
